Are you unable to use filters and effects properly on your Instagram app? If YES, you need to enable Hand and Face Effect inside Instagram’s settings.
Earlier, effects were disabled in some parts of the United States (Texas & Illinois) as these broke the law against the use of AI facial recognition technology. After a temporary suspension, the filters were brought back again. However, users need to opt-in to use filters and effects on Instagram.
According to the report, Instagram users are unable to use filters and effects. They are greeted with the error “This effect is not available in your location”.
Here’s how to turn on Hand and Face Effects on Instagram to use filters.
How to Enable Face and Hand Effects
This works on both Android & iPhone.
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your device.
Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap the three lines in the top-right.
Step 4: Select Settings.
Step 5: Tap Privacy.
Step 6: Scroll down to Data permissions and tap Face and Hand Effects.
Step 7: Tap the toggle icon next to Turn on face and hand effects.
That’s it. You will now be able to use Filters and Effects on Instagram.
