YouTube has finally rolled out the Picture-in-Picture feature for iOS users. However, it’s not working as it is supposed to.
Users are getting an error message that says “Music content cannot be played in picture-in-picture (PiP).
What is Picture in Picture On YouTube
PiP allows you to watch videos in a mini player even if you leave YouTube and open other apps.
Simply select a YouTube video you want to watch and then leave the YouTube app (by swiping up from the bottom of your screen). The video will continue to play in a mini-player, which you can move across your device’s screen as you use other apps.
This feature was already available on Android and it has been rolled out for iOS users recently.
Music content cannot be played in picture-in-picture (PiP) Error
On 12th July 2022, Youtube wrote on Twitter: Picture-in-Picture is slowly rolling out for YouTube on iPhone & iPad, & just like on Android.
It will be available to:
- Premium members globally &
- Non-Premium members in the US (non-music only)
Even the premium members are seeing the same error.
There’s nothing you can do from your end to fix this issue. All you can do is wait until YouTube identifies and fixes the error.
How to Turn ON PiP
Step 1: Launch the YouTube app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap your profile in the top-right.
Step 3: Select Settings.
Step 4: Tap General.
Step 5: Turn ON Picture-in-picture.
