Even with all the different social media and ott platforms making space in our lives, YouTube still has managed to maintain its position throughout.
YouTube understands the user’s behavior by applying an algorithm to your watch or search history and repeatedly pushes similar content on your feed. All the videos you watch are kept as a record, which helps you in many ways.
The first and foremost benefit is that you can always go to your watch history and resume the last video. Another benefit is that of Youtube Recommendations. On the basis of your watch history, YouTube takes into account your areas of interest and recommends the similar same type of content.
But, what if you’re annoyed by YouTube’s recommendations? Don’t worry, you can stop YouTube from tracking your watch history. Here’s how to turn off watch history on the YouTube app and the web.
How to Turn Off Watch History On YouTube
This works on both Android & iPhone.
Step 1: Launch the YouTube app on your device.
Step 2: Tap Library in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Step 3: Tap VIEW ALL next to History at the top.
Step 4: Tap the three dots in the top-right corner.
Step 5: Select History controls.
Step 6: Press the toggle icon next to Pause watch history.
The next time you watch a video, it won’t get recorded in your history.
Alternatively, Profile Icon -> Settings -> History and privacy -> Pause watch history.
How to Pause Watch History On YouTube PC
Step 1: Open youtube.com on your computer browser.
Step 2: Click the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner of the screen.
Step 3: Select History from the left panel.
Step 4: Select the History type as Watch history in the top-right, then click PAUSE WATCH HISTORY.
Step 5: Click PAUSE to confirm your decision.
