Facebook uses a process known as ranking to decide which posts will appear in your News Feed and in what order. This is the default setting of your Facebook News Feed and it is designed to show you posts that are most relevant to your interests.

How to See the Most Recent Posts On Facebook App
There are two different ways to sort your News Feed on the Facebook app to see the most recent posts first. You can either do that from your news feed or from the menu.
We have covered both ways, so you can choose whichever you like. The steps to see the most recent posts on the Facebook app are identical on both Android and iPhone devices.
Sort Recent Posts From Menu:
Step 1: Launch your Facebook app, and tap the Hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
Step 2: Locate the option Recent & Favorites and tap it. You may have to tap See More to reveal the option.
At the top, you can see that the feed is switched to Recent.
You have successfully sorted your News Feed to show you the most recent posts first. Please note that your News Feed will automatically return to its default setting when you open the app next time.
Sort Recent Posts From News Feed:
Step 1: Launch the Facebook app on your mobile device.
Step 2: Scroll down on your feed for a while.
Step 3: Now, start scrolling up in your News Feed screen until the Feed Filter Bar gets revealed at the top. You will see newly revealed options like Home, Favorites, and Recent.
Step 4: Tap the Recent tab.
Facebook will now show you the most recent posts from the pages and people you follow.
How to See the Most Recent Posts On Facebook Desktop
You can even sort your News Feed on Facebook’s web version. Here is a guide that will help you to sort your News Feed to see the most recent posts first on Facebook desktop or PC.
Step 1: Visit facebook.com using a browser on your computer and log in to your account.
Step 2: Select the Most recent option from the left panel. You may need to click See More if the option is not revealed.
You will now see the newest posts from your friends.
I have no “recent and favorites” menu option, and no Feed Filter Bar. My wife’s identical phone has both options, as you describe, but I have neither. I have both updated the app and then uninstalled and reinstalled it. Neither helped.
What do I do if neither of these work? Why does my app lack this option? It makes Facebook nearly useless to me.
it use to be there but it’s not anymore, not on my phone, not on all my PCs, no where, i know my facebook, and i know all the hidden places that it should have been, IT’S NOT THERE ANYMORE!
