As Clubhouse is an audio-based application, listening to each other in the conversation is all the app is about.

So you need to know how to mute or unmute yourself on the app. Speaking in the conversation solely depends on your role.

Through this article, I will help you to mute & unmute yourself on the Clubhouse app.

About Clubhouse Roles

You must be aware of the roles in the Clubhouse room. The role decides whether you can speak in the Clubhouse room or not. Let’s have a brief look at these roles.

Moderator: You are a moderator in the Clubhouse Room if you have started the room. As a moderator, you can mute or unmute yourself. You also have the privilege to add, remove, and mute other users in the room.

Speaker: The moderator and the first person to enter the room are the speakers. A speaker can mute and unmute himself/herself.

Listener: If you join an ongoing room, you are a listener. Listeners are muted by default. If you are a listener and want to speak, you have to raise your hand. If the Moderator allows you, you can unmute yourself and speak.

How to Mute and Unmute Audio in Clubhouse (Turn ON/OFF Mic)

1) If you are a speaker or a moderator, you can see a microphone icon at the bottom-right corner. You can mute and unmute yourself by clicking on it.

2) If you are a listener, you have to raise a hand present at the bottom-right corner. If the moderator gives you permission, your microphone icon will be enabled and you can mute or unmute yourself.
