Delete Search History On Instagram 2022 [Android & iPhone]

All browsers keep a record of the site you have visited and Instagram is no exception. It too stores all the searches you’ve made on Instagram.

If you’re worried about your phone being checked by your friends, you must clear your search history to maintain your privacy.

You can clear your entire history with a single tap or do it manually if you’d like to keep some of the searches.

Here’s how you can delete your search history.

How to Clear Search History On Instagram

Method 1

This works on both Android & iPhone.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your device.

Step 2: Tap the search icon next to the Home icon.

Step 3: Tap the Search bar at the top.

It will now show you all the recent searches you’ve made.

Step 4: Tap x next to the search to remove it. Repeat this for all the searches you want to clear.

To clear your search history all at once, tap See All in the upper right. Then tap Clear All and confirm it by tapping Clear All again.

Method 2

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your Android or iPhone.

Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Tap the three lines in the top right.

Step 4: Select Your activity.

Step 5: Tap Recent searches.

Step 6: Tap x next to the search you want to delete. To clear history at once, tap Clear All.

How to Delete Instagram Search History Using Your Computer

Step 1: Go to and log in to your account (if you aren’t already logged in).

Step 2: Click the search bar at the top.

Step 3: Click X next to the search you want to delete. Or click Clear all to clear the entire search history.

If you delete your search history on your computer, it will be removed on your app too. Your search history of an account gets synced across all the devices you use.

Can You Stop Instagram From Saving Your Search History?

Browsers have an option to go incognito that doesn’t store your history. Is there a similar feature on Instagram?

Unfortunately, you can’t turn off search history on Instagram. Whatever searches you make, it gets saved. The only way to get rid of it is to clear your history.
