People can see your display name below your Instagram profile picture. Unlike your Instagram username, it does not have to be unique. Multiple Instagram users can have the same username. Instagram lets you update your display name as many times as you want and whenever you want.

Change Your Display Name on Instagram
Step1: Open the Instagram app on your device and tap your profile picture in the bottom-right of the app screen.
Step2: On your profile page, tap the Edit Profile button.
Step3: Enter your new display name in the Name box.
Step4: Tap the tick mark in the top-right corner if your device is an Android. On iPhone, tap Done.
You have successfully changed your display name on Instagram.
